Some bullshit.

So I played Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn today. It was pretty neat, except for the fact that there’s a universal ban on making new characters on NA/EU servers. Thanks, Squeenix!

However, I decided to play on a Japanese server, since there’s no rule that says I have to stick with my kind. I just wanted to play the game. Play with friends will come with time, I told myself.

I discovered a shocking truth upon entrance to the world: no one there understood English. What a brainbuster. But I also learned something else.

Have you ever known a person who will give themselves a Japanese handle for an online game or a social networking service? I have. And I often wondered if any of these people know what their names mean. Much like when you see someone with a tattoo in a foreign language and think “that probably says something stupid like ‘trail mix.'” Well, Americans and other English speakers aren’t the only ones guilty of it.

I’m pretty sure none of these people know what their names mean.

That’s deep.

I had to double take. I thought his name was “Loud Cock” for a second.

She looks like a “Cheese.”

Okay, no fucking way. This has to be a joke.

Anyways, back to my usual bullshit.

Things sure have changed.

After numerous false starts at various projects, I ended up in Navy boot camp at the end of last February. I am now in the Navy. Not much has really changed about my life, though, so now that I’ve finally recovered my account, I’m back to doing absolutely nothing but bitch and moan. And what better place to do that than the internet? Stay tuned!

Wild Arms: Interjection of the Century

I haven’t updated at all for a very long time. Sorry to whoever accidentally stumbles upon this blog out of some strange coincidence. But I felt like this needed to be said, and this was the place to say it.

Wild Arms is pretty cool. I’m not very far in it. I’m in a town called Adleyde. I’ve been making a point of talking to everyone everywhere at all times in this game. In their castle, their guards all pretty much say the same thing. To paraphrase, it comes down to “Everyone just walks in here like they own the place and starts exploring our whole entire castle, top to bottom. Well, whatever. No big deal. Just go ahead and check everything out.”

The people in this town are really nice. And they seem to understand some RPG tropes pretty well. I thought that was pretty funny.

Anyways, this is my first time playing Wild Arms (a game for the Playstation) and I’ll try and write something about it when I’m finished. Also after I write about Persona 3 and Persona 4. So maybe never. But I will do my best not to get distracted this time.

I have bad news (for me), and good news (for people who aren’t me)…

My friend Kyle has been bugging me for about two whole days to make my goddamn Dog’s Life review already. I have

My reaction when anyone ever implies that Dog's life could be a masterpiece of any kind. My hair isn't that color anymore, though.

been thinking recently, “Do I really want to review Dog’s Life just yet? That could be my masterpiece! That game has evoked such feelings out of me that it might be my greatest review! Should I really do it so soon?” The answer came gradually, as I realized a few things:

  1. Like two people read this blog.
  2. One day, people will forget what a ps2 is.
  3. I’m not famous by any means
  4. There’s tons of other things I hate that I can still review. Like Nickleback
  5. There’s always going to be videogames for me to write about.
  6. I’m doing my writing for me, goddamnit. Not for you (No offense. I love you for reading.).

So here’s the deal. I’m not going to review Mass Effect 2 yet for a few reasons. Number one is that I’m going to be forcing myself back through that turd a second time. I guess I will be one-hundred-percenting it again, but this time I won’t be able to minimize the trauma by taking turns with my friend. The other reason is that I haven’t finished Mass Effect 1 yet and so my characters aren’t ready to transfer over yet. Also, I figure I’d build up some credibility before I disappoint you all by saying less than flattering things about Mass Effect 2. It’s not a bad game, but I don’t really like it. Don’t expect it like tomorrow or anything. I have a lot of more important things to do than play one of the shittiest games ever made. But hopefully I’ll have it up by this time next week. I’ll try and post something between now and then as well. Take care of yourselves.
